Hi everyone!
As I mentioned, I identify primarily as a photographer. In my photography I work in a personal diary-like style. I am interested in the subtle, gestural qualities of self-presentation and the way that people construct themselves as an image for the world. I like to look at the way self-presentation conflicts with my own perceptions of the subject, as well as to recognize the way that self-presentation or conceptions of identity impact the subject's interpersonal relationships. Gender roles/dynamics and body politics are other things that I think about when making images. I have also found meta-images to be a kind of unintentional theme through out my work - portraits within portraits or photographs within photographs.
Here is a link to a blog where I upload my most recent photographs. This is my website (slightly less recent).
Some artists that I like/am thinking about in reference to my work are Nan Goldin, Tina Barney, Elinor Carucci, Jason Nocito, Chuck Grant, Barnet Newman, Ellsworth Kelly (The Boston Panels in particular!), Agnes Martin (and others that aren't at the top of my mind right now!).
